Effective Industry Representation in Washington
NASBIC works with members of Congress and the Executive agencies on a broad range of legislative and regulatory issues that have a significant impact on the private equity market and the small businesses with whom they partner.  In performing our work to improve the business and regulatory environments we often work with the Small Business Administration, Securities and Exchange Commission, the Internal Revenue Service, the departments of Commerce and Treasury, and many other government agencies. Networking and Education
NASBIC hosts a variety of events which provide networking and education opportunities, for which NASBIC members receive thousands of dollars in discounts every year.
 
NASBIC Annual Meeting Program - NASBIC sponsors an Annual Meeting every year in the fall. The meeting is the largest gathering of SBIC managers each year and provides excellent networking and educational opportunities for the broader private equity market.  The 52nd National Summit is set for October 26-28, 2010, at the Breakers in Palm Beach, FL.
 
Regional Meetings and Programs - NASBIC sponsors a series of regional meetings for private equity professionals.  Generally held in the winter and spring, our regional meetings offer additional networking, educational, and social activities for NASBIC members.
 
The Venture Capital Institute (VCI) - For over 30 years, NASBIC has trained more than 4,500 venture capital professionals from around the world. Our program is viewed as both a "required course” for newcomers to the industry and an excellent continuing professional education program for those already involved.  VCI is an intense, four-day, in-residence program conducted by experienced venture capital managers, investors, and attorneys who are recognized experts in their fields.  The 36th Annual Venture Capital Institute is set for September 27-30, 2010, at the Emory Conference Center in Atlanta, GA. 
 
SBIC Regulations Classes - NASBIC also partners with the Investment Division of SBA to offer regular SBIC Regulations Training Classes.  SBA requires investment managers to attend one of the training classes prior to licensing.
 
Online Forums - Members are able to access our online forums to discuss and research hot legal and financial topics.
 
Publications & Communications
NASBIC Network - A directory which lists all member firms and contact information.  Members are also granted access to the NASBIC LinkedIn Group.
 
The Guide to SBIC Regulations - A fully indexed compilation of relevant SBIC laws, SBA’s SBIC Regulations, SBA’s SBIC Policy and Procedure Releases, SBA’s SBIC forms, and materials on the applicability of tax and securities law to SBICs.  The Guide is designed to put all the information an SBIC professional needs on a daily basis into one easy-to-use publication.  The Guide is available to members on the NASBIC website for easy access to regulatory information anytime, from anywhere. 
 
SBIC Program Guide - Continually updated reference tool that explains how the SBIC program works and presents information on current appropriations and projections for the future of the SBIC program.
 
Washington Report & Outlook - An online newsletter that keeps members informed about current aspects of the SBIC industry and significant small business issues.  Topical and concise, the newsletter delivers important information about developing issues in a minimal amount of reading time. 
 
Discounted Products & Services
Affinity Program - NASBIC offers discounted products and services, useful specifically to SBICs, through its Affinity Program, a partnership with industry service providers.
