As Congress finished their work and headed home for the 4th of July recess, SBICs were on the minds of two powerful Senators. The Chair and Ranking Member of the Senate Small Business Committee, Senators Mary Landrieu (D-LA) and Olympia Snow (R-ME), wrote a letter to SBA Administrator Mills encouraging action on the SBIC program. The Senators highlighted the successes of the SBIC program, the importance of formally implementing the Recovery Act provisions, the need for speeding up licensing and re-licensing, and the urgency of implementing the Energy Savings Debenture. These Senators are excellent advocates for SBICs and NASBIC appreciates their efforts. A copy of their letter can be read by clicking here - Landrieu-Snowe Letter .
