Legislative Representation

The NASBIC staff devotes substantial time and energy to ensure a rational operating environment for SBICs and SSBICs, in terms of regulation, legislation, and adequate leverage. To that end, the staff works regularly with members of Congress and the Administration on issues affecting the industry.

Since the SBIC industry's success is closely tied to a thriving independent business sector and a vigorous national economy, NASBIC often forms and joins coalitions of like-minded organizations to achieve common objectives.

The staff interacts closely with the U.S. Small Business Administration to shape a regulatory framework which permits SBICs to operate under flexible and realistic guidelines. Our attempts to improve the regulatory environment bring us into regular contact with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Internal Revenue Service, the Department of Commerce, and the Treasury Department.
