SBIC Regulations Class
The Investment Division of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), in partnership with NASBIC, holds SBIC Regulations Training Classes in Washington, DC, and occasionally in other locations.
Upcoming classes, all to be held in Washington, are set as follows:
2006
March 1
June 7
Class dates for September and December 2006 will be announced. All scheduled classes will be held at the Marriott Metro Center, 775 12th Street, NW, Washington, DC 20005. For room reservations at the Marriott call (800) 228-9290 or (202) 737-2200. Registrants are responsible for making their own hotel reservations, and we suggest that you make your reservations as early as possible.
Space in each class is limited, so please register as soon as possible. The cost is $225 per person to cover materials for the class, audiovisuals, food, and the meeting room. This fee must be paid in advance, by check or by MasterCard, Visa, or American Express. To reserve a place in a class please either (1) click here for a registration form in .pdf format to print out, complete, and send to NASBIC (the fax number and mailing address are on the form) or (2) click here for the secure online "Rapid Registration" version of the same form. NASBIC will confirm the class reservation and fax or email it back to you. Due to the high demand for these classes, attendance in each class is limited to two persons per licensee/applicant.
All SBIC managers and staff who have not attended a training class are required to do so. Attorneys and accountants who work closely with your SBIC are also encouraged to attend. Please note that if there is not sufficient interest in a class, it will be cancelled.
On the day of the class, registration will be from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. The training session is from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. In order to receive credit for attendance, each individual must be present for the entire session. Therefore, we recommend that you do not try to take an early flight on the day of the class or schedule a return flight that would require you to leave early. Notification of cancellation must be in writing and must be received at NASBIC 72 hours in advance in order to obtain a refund or a transfer to a later class.
For license applicants, SBA requires that at least one of your investment officers attend a class prior to making a second pre-licensing investment. With few exceptions, all investment officers must attend one of the training classes prior to licensing.
